I do not understand why people spell ketchup as catsup.

basically, they’re two different names that sound similar but were used around the same time. ketchup most likely came from a chinese dialect, while north americans used the word catchup, or catsup. there hasn’t been proof yet on which word came first, as ketchup may come form kecap, a soy sauce.
Lol, I understand the etymology and origins and stuff, what I mean to say is that catsup is such an ugly spelling for it.
i like to think of “what’s up, dawg” when i hear it. 8)
